Commercial tipping, eco-friendly approach

If your business is within the M25 area and produces food waste, we can reduce your waste costs

As Head of Responsible Business at Azzurri, I am incredibly proud of the strides we’ve made in reducing our waste, rethinking our operating model and the importance of the food we serve. Through our Recipe for A Better Future we have envisioned a future where our restaurants can continue to grow whilst doing better for our people and planet. We work very closely with our partners to achieve these goals, and our collaboration with Bio Collectors and ADM isn’t just a business partnership, it’s a testament to our Italian tradition of ‘non si butta via niente’ – nothing is thrown away.

With our partners, we have implemented an innovative closed-loop system, turning what was once our food waste into energy, contributing to powering up to 11,000 homes each year. And we did not stop at that. We found a use for the digestate, or simply what’s left after the anaerobic digestion process, using this leftover as natural fertiliser for the fields that grow our wheat. We are passionate about our food; we appreciate how many resources go into making the ingredients we serve, and now we can proudly say that what was once food waste, is now a fundamental part of our sourcing process.

This project exemplifies Azzurri’s commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices. We are thrilled to work alongside our partners in paving the way towards a more sustainable future.

Food Waste Tipping Service

Tipping is made uncomplicated and environmentally friendly – that’s our promise at Bio Collectors. Our specialised tipping services offer an efficient solution to your food disposal needs. We provide either 120-litre food waste containers, 240-litre food waste containers and 40-litre caddie food waste containers, tailored to the specific requirements of your business.

Our process is simple and convenient. Containers are filled, collected by us according to a scheduled plan, and emptied, making food waste disposal a worry-free process for you. We have the ability to wash your containers on-site or swap them out for bins that have been professionally cleaned at our facility.

We can further assist your business by supplying internal caddies and sturdy biodegradable bags if required. This equipment can enhance your staff’s ability to segregate food waste effectively and maintain superior hygiene standards in any production or office area.

But what happens to your food waste after collection?

At Bio Collectors, we aren’t just a waste collection service. We go the extra mile to ensure your food waste is put to good use. It is transported to our unique anaerobic digestion facility, one of the very few in the UK. Here, your food waste is transformed into energy, which is then directed into the National Grid. Moreover, the process also generates digestate, a nutrient-rich substance that is repurposed to grow more food.

Our system embodies true sustainability, and we are committed to promoting a circular economy at a national level. We consistently strive to innovate and stay at the forefront of industry trends to help businesses turn their food waste into valuable resources for the future.

What sets us apart is our commitment to carbon neutrality. Every collection we make, every mile we travel, is carbon neutral This means that when you choose Bio Collectors, you’re not only managing your waste responsibly, but you’re also contributing to a greener future.
